What should I check if I'm worried about substitute surgery (ghost surgery) in cosmetic surgery?

Pretty Body and Line Clinic

At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, the attending medical team handles everything directly from the first consultation through surgery and aftercare, and we do not allow substitute surgery. The director who decides the areas and the range in the consultation is the one who enters the operating room, and the areas and range decided in the consultation are confirmed with you once more before surgery.

What is substitute surgery (ghost surgery)?

It means that someone other than the doctor who did the consultation and promised to perform the surgery operates in their place while the patient is under anesthesia. Because the patient is asleep and cannot personally confirm who performed the surgery, many people worry about it.

Why does this matter especially for liposuction?

Liposuction is an operation in which the layer and direction of the cannula are adjusted by feel. Even within the same abdomen, which of the upper abdomen, lower abdomen and flanks to suction, and to what extent, is the surgical plan itself, so the plan is reflected as intended only when the person who made it in the consultation is the person who enters the operating room.

What should I ask in the consultation?

You can ask three things: whether the doctor who did the consultation personally performs the surgery, who handles the anesthesia, and who looks after your recovery and progress after surgery. Check how these three roles are divided at each clinic.

At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, one person handles all three. The director is a board-certified anesthesiologist and so personally performs both the surgery and the anesthesia, and the attending surgeon follows your progress from the pre-op tests through recovery and discharge.

Is it the same for simple procedures like Botox and fillers?

At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, non-surgical treatments are also handled directly by the attending medical team from consultation through the procedure and follow-up checks, and we do not allow substitute treatment. This is because with Botox and fillers, even procedures with the same name produce different results depending on which muscle and which layer they go into, and how much is used.
