How long do I need to wear a compression garment after liposuction?
Pretty Body and Line Clinic
At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, we recommend wearing the compression garment 24 hours a day for the first week after surgery, and after the first week, taking it off only when you sleep, wearing it for about 1–2 months. Compression garments are custom-made by a specialist manufacturer, and patients purchase them separately.
Why wear a compression garment?
After liposuction, the contour keeps changing while the swelling goes down. Wearing a compression garment helps this recovery process, and for areas used constantly in walking and sitting, such as the thighs, wearing the compression garment and your posture during recovery affect the result.
What about showering?
At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, we advise that 2–3 days after surgery, you can shower after putting waterproof tape over the stitch sites.
When swelling and hardening occur
Major swelling and bruising usually last about 2 weeks, and hardness and lumps in the operated area appear from 3 weeks after surgery and gradually improve over time.
Where do I get a compression garment?
Compression garments are custom-made by a specialist manufacturer to fit the operated area. They are not provided by the clinic; patients purchase them separately.
