If I get upper arm liposuction, do I also need to treat the accessory breast area and armpits?
Pretty Body and Line Clinic
At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, we divide the arm into the full 360 degrees of the upper arm, the armpit, the accessory breast area, the shoulder blade region and the forearm. If only the upper arm is suctioned, a border can remain where it meets the connecting areas when your arms hang at your sides, so we set the range by looking at the line running from the shoulder to the elbow as a whole.
What does each area refer to?
The full 360 degrees of the upper arm means looking all the way around the upper arm, front, back, inner and outer, and the forearm is below the elbow. The accessory breast area is the spot in front of the armpit that bulges out above the underwear, and the shoulder blade region is where the back of the arm transitions into the back.
Why can treating only the upper arm fall short?
People usually consider liposuction when fat gathers at the back of the upper arm and shows through clothing, but the arm is connected to the torso. If only the upper arm becomes slimmer, the armpit, the accessory breast area and the area where the arm transitions into the back can look relatively more prominent.
That does not mean everyone needs to have all of it done. At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, we do not recommend areas that are not necessary, and in the consultation the director examines you in person and decides how far the range actually needed for the contour you want extends.
What we are careful about in arm liposuction
The skin on the arm is thin and the area is narrow, so if the suction layer is set shallow, irregularities easily show. That is why we set the range and depth carefully.
Daily life during recovery
The arm moves often in everyday life, so it may feel uncomfortable early in recovery, but it does not interfere with daily life. A compression garment must be worn after surgery.
