FAQ

Q. How is stem cell therapy performed?

A. Fat is harvested from abdomen or thighs, then stem cells are extracted using specialized equipment.

Q. When do results appear?

A. Effects typically appear over 1-3 months.

Q. How many sessions are needed?

A. Usually 1-3 sessions at 3-6 month intervals.

Q. How does stem cell fat grafting differ from ordinary fat grafting?

A. It refers to a method in which a fraction containing stem cells is separated from your own harvested fat and injected together with the fat being grafted. Unlike ordinary fat grafting, which purifies the fat and injects it directly, this goes through one additional step. Which method suits you depends on the area and volume to be grafted and on your general health, so we explain both in the consultation and decide together. When stem cell fat grafting is performed, a higher graft survival rate can be expected.

Q. Where are the stem cells obtained from?

A. At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, we harvest them from your own fat. A small amount of fat is taken from the abdomen or thigh, and the cellular fraction mixed within it is then separated. Nothing is taken from another person, and because your own tissue is used, only a minimal incision is needed at the harvest site. The amount harvested varies with the planned procedure, and where and how much to harvest is decided in the consultation first.

Q. How long does the procedure take and what is the schedule that day?

A. Harvesting, separation and the procedure follow one after another under sedation. It is relatively simple and you can return to daily life right away. The time varies with the harvested volume and the treated area, so the exact duration is explained in the consultation. The harvest site may feel bruised or tight for a few days, and heavy exercise is best avoided during that period.

Q. Who is not a good candidate?

A. At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, the consultation begins by checking whether there is enough fat to harvest. For a lean build it can be difficult to obtain the amount needed, so the plan may have to be revised or the harvest area widened. Next we look at the medications you are taking and any chronic conditions. If you take medication that affects blood clotting or are being treated for a chronic illness, consultation with that department may be necessary, so please tell us in advance. If there is inflammation at the harvest site or the treatment site, we proceed after it has settled, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please come for a consultation once that period has passed.

Q. Can it be combined with other procedures?

A. At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, it is often planned together with liposuction or fat grafting. Fat has to be harvested anyway, so the harvesting step can be combined into one. Each area needs a different recovery time, however, so the overall schedule and the anesthesia time have to be recalculated, and doing everything on the same day is not always an advantage. What comes first and what comes later is decided in the consultation.

Q. How is anesthesia handled when the fat is harvested?

A. At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, the director, who is a board-certified anesthesiologist, handles both the procedure and the anesthesia. The anesthesia method varies with the site and the volume harvested, because harvesting only a small amount and harvesting a volume close to liposuction cannot be the same. We first confirm that your body can tolerate anesthesia, then make the anesthesia plan while deciding the harvest site and volume, and the same person monitors your condition through recovery afterwards.
