At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, a second fat grafting session is usually possible from 1–2 months after the first. The fat used for the second session is sometimes newly harvested, and sometimes fat that has been frozen and stored is grafted.
Why is it not finished in one session?
When transferred fat cells receive a blood supply and establish themselves in their new location, this is called graft take. Fat that does not establish itself is absorbed by the body and disappears, so the volume immediately after surgery is not the final result. It settles over about 1 month, and after that we look at the final state and plan an additional graft if needed.
Why not inject a large amount at once?
Injecting a large volume into one spot at once makes it harder for blood to reach the center, which can work against graft take, so we use a method of injecting small amounts spread across several layers. When a large volume is needed, we sometimes recommend watching the progress and grafting again.
Swelling and going out after facial fat grafting
After facial fat grafting, major swelling lasts about a week, and you can go out right away. Bruising and swelling vary from person to person.
Anesthesia
At Pretty Body and Line Clinic, it is done under sedation even when a small amount is placed in one or two spots on the face, and the director, who is a board-certified anesthesiologist, handles both the procedure and the anesthesia.
